Idols are ultimately just human, experiencing the same depth of emotion as anyone else. Inevitably, there are profoundly moving moments when holding back tears becomes impossible. In fact, it is safe to say that no idol navigates their entire career without shedding at least a few tears along the way. The members of TXT and SUGA once touched on this topic during a conversation.
Leader Yeonjun pointed out that the most unforgettable “sobbing” moment of his career was when TXT won first place on Inkigayo with “Sugar Rush Ride.” The reason that moment was so meaningful to him was because he had served as an MC on Inkigayo for a long time, becoming accustomed to handing trophies to other groups and feeling happy for them. This time, however, being able to present the trophy to his own group—after five long years of waiting for that achievement—made him happier than ever.

Meanwhile, Taehyun remarked that their leader is actually the most tearful member in TXT, but he added that the group truly needs someone “soft-hearted” like that. In a humorous tone, he commented that every group has at least one such member: "But we do need at least one quick-to-tears character!"
Concurring with this observation, SUGA noted that the BTS members are naturally highly emotional. The rapper shared, "Our members are also sentimental and cry a lot. It’s tough to see them cry sometimes." He further opened up about the emotional weight he carries when watching his bandmates go through hard times, explaining: “I do not like to bring up this topic, but it was terrible to see other members suffering from mental struggles and me not able to do anything.”
Taehyun then asked SUGA to choose a “crybaby representative” of BTS, and the group’s rapper did not hesitate to name the golden maknae, Jungkook. His reasoning was simple: "If I ask, ‘Are you crying?’, he cries."

Among BTS members, fans might guess that Jimin is the most emotional—he often sheds tears during concerts, when talking about ARMY, or when speaking about the other members. However, in reality, SUGA pointed out that the youngest member, Jungkook, is actually the one who cries the most—sometimes even because of a simple question from his hyungs.
SUGA’s choice reflects an insider’s perspective that differs from how fans view things from the outside. Jungkook—often perceived by the public as strong and well-rounded—actually shows his most vulnerable side in front of his members. This demonstrates just how important they are to him.
On one occasion, Jungkook even identified the members as the “reason” his heart feels pain, saying: “I’m okay with having a hard time because of our schedule, but seeing the hyungs having a mentally hard time… I can’t really do anything about it.” He continued sweetly, “What pains me the most is my members being in pain. I don’t care about other things; I don’t want you all to be in pain. Then I won’t be in pain too.” This aligns perfectly with what SUGA mentioned in his talk with TXT about the reasons why seeing his fellow BTS members cry puts so much pressure on him.
There is an invisible yet incredibly strong bond between the members of BTS—a level of empathy so deep that they quite literally “hurt when the other hurts.” It shows that for BTS, individual happiness is always tied to the condition of the group as a whole. When one “piece” is wounded, the entire picture feels shattered. It is this profound empathy that has transformed them from colleagues into a true family!

On the other hand, SUGA’s half-joking remark, "If I ask, ‘Are you crying?’, he cries", highlights the depth of their connection. It reflects the trust and comfort within their brotherhood, where Jungkook can freely express his soft side without fear of judgment. On a deeper level, it also illustrates the balance between their superstar image and their identity as ordinary young men within a close-knit family.
Interestingly, fans have also confirmed the truth of SUGA’s words about Jungkook. In numerous behind-the-scenes videos and real-life moments, Jungkook has been seen facing physical injuries multiple times yet rarely shedding tears from pain. Instead, fans often witness him crying when his older members cry, becoming emotional at the end of concerts with his six hyungs, or recalling the time the group nearly disbanded during their most difficult period—always being comforted by his brothers.
Clearly, he only cries when he is with the people who matter most in his life. This makes the strong friendship among the BTS members even more meaningful, leaving fans both deeply moved and full of admiration for their bond!
