As one of the world’s leading K-pop idol groups, BTS not only have to endure grueling schedules and physically demanding performances, but also face immense mental pressure. In many behind-the-scenes videos, fans can clearly see the K-pop superstars nearly collapsing the moment they step off stage, sometimes requiring medical αѕѕistance or breathing support devices.
The members of BTS have also openly admitted on multiple occasions that they have struggled with mental health issues. SUGA even had to see a psychologist for a period of time, while RM confessed that he battled chronic insomnia and needed medication as well as medical consultation throughout his military service.
Fans often wonder what extraordinary strength allows the members to always appear perfect in front of the public—as if physical and mental hardships never existed?

According to j-hope, one of the most effective ways he heals when he feels exhausted is being with the other members. He revealed this during a live broadcast after all BTS members had been discharged from the military and reunited at a songwriting camp in the U.S. for about two months.
He couldn’t hide his happiness when talking about the reunion of all seven members after a long separation: “Now that I'm with the members, I laugh a lot. The laughter doesn't stop. Everyone's so funny. We're eating so well and we all eat together. How long has it been since we do everything like eating all together?”
He then emphasized that he found recovery thanks to Jimin’s presence during their time in the U.S. He melted fans’ hearts with affectionate words about the younger member: “Jiminie is so funny. Really, he’s so funny. Park Jimin is my laugh button. When I’m having a hard time or am so tired, I just poke Jimin’s body and he makes me laugh.”

The fact that j-hope said this right after reuniting with Jimin following two years apart due to military service made fans even more emotional. Fans often αѕѕume j-hope is the most positive and energetic member of BTS, but it turns out even he has moments when he needs Jimin’s support—showing just how abundant Jimin’s emotional ‘energy’ is. Meanwhile, calling Jimin a “laugh button” also shows how much j-hope trusts him and how happy he feels when he’s by his side.
Not only j-hope, but SUGA also considers Jimin his healing remedy, saying that he “gets along with Jimin because he's so good-humored and mature” Meanwhile, when talking about Jimin’s energy within the group, RM once commented that the younger member “looks like a baby but inside he’s mature and like a Grandfather” — a reference to his generosity, emotional stability, depth, and the care he shows toward the members.

From this story, ARMYs are even more touched when they reflect on the members’ relationships. It clearly shows that the members themselves are each other’s strongest source of support, both physically and mentally—especially after enduring long periods of hardship alone.

And it’s not just j-hope—RM’s case reinforces this idea as well. RM, who is considered one of the members who recovered best through “BTS therapy,” previously shared that he suffered from severe insomnia during his military service, and even after discharge, he always carried medication with him. Even with medication, he was afraid at night, struggled to sleep well, and experienced side effects such as fatigue and lethargy.
However, just a few months after being discharged and staying with BTS at the songwriting camp, he told fans: “I have stopped taking (sleep) medications now. Even if I do go to sleep a bit late, I don’t need the medications anymore", showing that living with the BTS members improved RM’s mental state more effectively than the medication he had been taking for about a year.
Many stu∂ιєs from the U.S., ιтαℓу, and ¢нιиα have emphasized the crucial role of family and loved ones for people suffering from insomnia, mental health issues, or depression. Experts also stress that “family cohesion”—the degree to which a person feels they belong and are acknowledged within their family—affects sleep quality. People with stronger family bonds tend to feel less lonely and depressed. BTS is the clearest proof of that.
