The relationship between idols and fans has long been regarded as a sacred bond. However, this is only true when the relationship is kept within proper boundaries—built on mutual respect and positive affection. For those who know no limits and are obsessively driven to possess and control idols in an extreme way, it becomes a completely different story.
The long-standing problems of sasaeng fans and the black market trade of celebrities’ personal information have remained both persistent and deeply troubling for years. These obsessive fans not only stalk idols all the way to their homes, but are also willing to spend huge amounts of money to purchase data from “illegal sources.” Idols’ privacy boundaries are being threatened more than ever, and even BTS cannot escape being targeted.
BTS leader RM was once a victim of such invasion, after an employee of KORAIL’s KTX railway system illegally accessed his travel schedule and personal information—including his address and phone number—for three years. The employee even shared the data with friends so they could book seats close to the idol. Youngest member Jungkook has also been a frequent target of sasaeng fans. On more than one occasion, he has spoken about fans sending food to his home at his former luxury apartment, as well as people trespαѕѕing into his new residence without permission.

But what is even more ѕнσ¢кing is that illegally purchasing private information or directly harαѕѕing the idols themselves no longer seems to satisfy these people’s ambitions. They have begun shifting toward an even more outrageous behavior: attacking and harαѕѕing idols’ friends and family members in order to achieve their goals.
Most recently, a controversial situation unfolded during Mingyu’s (SEVENTEEN) livestream on January 31. After the first night of the S.Coups x Mingyu — CxM [DOUBLE UP] LIVE PARTY event in Nagoya, נαραи, Mingyu took the opportunity to chat with fans on his way back to the hotel. However, the cheerful atmosphere was quickly ruined by a flood of inappropriate comments.
Instead of asking about his well-being or discussing the performance, some people repeatedly “attacked” the chat by demanding that Mingyu give them Jungkook’s personal phone number. Faced with such outrageous behavior, Mingyu could not stay silent. Although he did not use harsh words or raise his voice, his facial expression noticeably changed—clearly showing disbelief and irritation.
He immediately responded bluntly: “What this person is doing?”, “Really a funny person,” and firmly, “Please get out.” This direct reaction made it clear that Mingyu had truly ℓσѕт patience with the blatant invasion of privacy from a group of twisted fans targeting his close friend.
The incident sparked a huge wave of backlash within the K-pop fan community. Bringing up another artist during someone’s personal broadcast is already considered impolite—but in this case, it was even worse, as it involved demanding someone else’s private information.
Moreover, it is obvious that most people know Mingyu and Jungkook have been close friends for years, meaning he would never betray Jungkook or do anything that could harm him. In other words, they were never going to obtain any “secret information” about Jungkook from Mingyu—yet they still spammed the chat with such messages.
Fans pointed out that as a celebrity, Mingyu could not react too rudely, but in reality, he must have felt deeply insulted and furious. Some also praised the way he shut those foolish people down. Meanwhile, under the viral clip, netizens expressed intense anger over the lack of manners and basic decency shown by certain fans:
- Some people have really ℓσѕт their minds. Why would anyone ask for Jungkook’s phone number during his friend’s live? Where’s the boundary or even basic respect ?
- It is completely natural for him to defend his friend in front of everyone, especially when he sees the harαѕѕment his friend is facing and the invasion of his privacy Some fans suffer from what can be called “mad cow syndrome.” He is not seeking attention; he is defending his friend They have been friends for more than ten years
- If it is a Carat then Mingyu did the right thing bcs SVT don’t accept bs. And as a friend of JK he will talk to defend him. Instead of telling that he shouldn’t have read it maybe this will be a wake up call for armys to act and protect JK.
- Second hand embarsssment oh my GODDD. Please control your crazy mind and respect idol's privacy
- Mingyu would never do that… what a ridiculous person. The two of them are really close friends! Mingyu was actually trying to warn everyone about how clueless and disrespectful some people are. Kudos to him for reading that comment. I love my idol JK, and we should pray to God to protect Jungkook, since that d*mn company is useless
- appreciating that his friend deliberately spoke up to tell the sasaengs this behavior is wrong and to stay away from Jungkook
- Glad he told the person straight in the face to get out that’s a true friend
- Him saying “get out” icon we love them and their friendship
- This is beyond psychotic. He should have taken a the info and press charges for stalking!!!
- Really appreciate him for telling them straight 'get out'.. these fans are really sick heads.. please free jungkook.. and glad that jungkook has such good friends like him
- They cant be treated like normal human at all atp. I genuinely feel bad for having to say this but feel even worse for Jungkook who have to go through this on daily basis.
- Shameless!!! I am extremely embarrαѕѕed in behalf of all fans with brains
