Rolling Stone Senior Editor Clarifies What Jungkook Said About Marriage In Their Latest Interview

Recently, BTS appeared on the cover of the May issue of global music magazine Rolling Stone. According to the magazine, this May issue is a major project featuring a total of eight covers, including one group cover and seven individual covers for each member. This marks the highest number of special-edition covers ever released in a single issue in Rolling Stone’s nearly 60-year history.

The same set of cover photos and editorial content will be published simultaneously across 16 international editions of the magazine worldwide. The covers and articles are being released online sequentially from April 15 to April 20, accompanied by a series of individual interview videos for each member. Veteran Rolling Stone writer Brian Hiatt personally met with each BTS member in Seoul in February last year to conduct these interviews.

As of now, three interview videos featuring RM, Jin, and j-hope have been officially released, offering many in-depth and surprising insights—such as Jin clarifying for the first time that he did not receive credits on tracks from the ARIRANG album.

Amid this context, a video titled “Jungkook SHOCKS Brian Hiatt — Reveals He Might Leave кσяєα After Marriage?!” from a YouTube channel named Jungkook LOVERs quickly drew attention from fans and netizens. Within just two days of being uploaded on April 15, the video garnered around 12,000 views. It was presented in an indirect narrative style, claiming that Brian Hiatt described Jungkook as “unreadable,” with “soмєтнing different in his eyes”“soмєтнing deeper, heavier, as if he had been carrying a thought for a long time waiting for the right moment to let it out” from the very beginning of the interview.

The climax of the video revolved around Jungkook discussing love and marriage. According to the narration, he expressed a desire for a “normal” life after getting married, emphasizing that he might prioritize love and family over fame. It further claimed that he said people change after marriage, their priorities shift, and that his current environment (кσяєα/K-pop) might no longer suit the person he would become in the future.

The narrator added that although Jungkook did not provide a clear plan, his sincere tone and lack of denial made many believe it was not a joke, even leaving Brian Hiatt visibly stunned. The video also highlighted fan reactions, stating: “Fans around the world are now divided. Some are heartbroken, others are supportive, but one thing is clear, this moment has changed everything.”

However, just two days after the video began circulating, it reached Brian Hiatt—and the truth was revealed!

On April 17, the journalist spoke out on his personal Twitter account, completely denying the video’s content. He stated: “They’re using AI to create fake images and headlines from interviews that haven’t even been released. I αѕѕure you Jungkook did not announce any marriage in our interview.” He also humorously added, “Those are NOT the boots I was wearing,” pointing out a fabricated detail in the video.

Brian Hiatt’s firm statement left many ѕнσ¢кed as they realized that the entire video was fabricated, and that the supposed interview did not even exist. Fans were also taken aback by the sophistication and unethical nature of such misinformation creators, who exploit fans’ anticipation by producing entirely false content for profit.

Hiatt’s response not only helped Jungkook avoid unnecessary personal controversies and protected the magazine’s credibility, but also served as a reminder for fans to rely on official, verified sources and remain cautious in today’s complex information landscape.

Meanwhile, some fans quickly recognizing the video as misinformation before praised Brian Hiatt for speaking out. They encouraged others to report the channel and the misleading video to HYBE and the platform, saying: "ARMY, we all know what to do, don’t we? Report it to Hybe", "This is so not acceptable. ARMYs don't engage just go on YouTube and report the video", "Why the h3ll does it have 12k views?? let's report and block asap"...

Under Brian Hiatt’s post, there are also many discussions from fans, including:

- I am so sorry for how the solos are acting. We want nothing to do with them and they absolutely do not represent ARMY or the member that they are obsessed(possessive) of. They creep us out just as much as they do everyone else

- wtf is this??? this is so embarrαѕѕing and shameless. can this ppl just leave the boys alone and let them live? what do they even gain by doing all these?

- Those aren't armys but solo fans they are very toxic unfortunately if you can report them it would be helpful because many people will believe this is real. Its sad they had to do this like real interview was gonna released soon today was jhope.

- There's so many of that Brian. If a person is not truly following BTS they would believe all of this fake news. I personally report all this fake videos

- I was going to apologize, but then I remembered that this is all solo stans who are also BTS haters. They always put words into the members mouths with a specific message/narrative “LIES” to satisfy their delusional desires ARMYs (BTS fans) will never support this behavior

- There are some really insane people that try to use the individual members either for gossip or for their own delusional purposes…army tries to report this stuff but YouTube doesn’t usually listen to us. Please contact bigнιт/hybe directly if you can!

- clout-chasers and haters tend to feed bangtan's images to AI to spread fake news and drag them to the mud. ARMYs would NEVER support this kind of behavior because it only endangers them and harm the environment. we don't want any fake news surrounding them as well.

- again, this is what comes with being the biggest band in the world there will always be hate from antis, solos, and people trying to divide us

- Bro I have seen so many wild AI bts slops being recommended and reported so many of them I am really done
