BTS is making an undeniable impact right at the heart of the US, from New York and New Jersey to Boston most recently, completely reshaping the landscape of the mainstream pop market. The “BTS THE CITY ARIRANG - NEW YORK” event, along with the 157,000 fans who attended their two-night concerts at MetLife Stadium and the 130,000 who packed their two-night shows in Foxborough, has proven that BTS is not simply a K-pop act but continues to hold a top position in the US live touring market.
What makes BTS’s latest US run even more noteworthy is how closely it has been tied to the group’s clear stance and proactive attitude. Recently, BTS made the υиєχρє¢тє∂ decision not to submit their music for consideration in the newly established Best Asian Pop Music Performance category introduced by the GRAMMYs, effectively refusing to participate in — or boycott — the awards ceremony.
The move is widely seen as a powerful message that BTS refuses to accept the conservative framework of Western critics, which divides music based on language or region. At the same time, the group is αѕѕerting its position as artists who have already established themselves at the center of the mainstream pop market and will not allow themselves to be swayed by an authoritative awards ceremony.

Amid this backdrop, a recent post from BTS leader RM has drawn significant attention, with many believing it further reinforces the group’s response to the GRAMMYs!
On August 8 (KST), RM shared a series of photos capturing moments from his time in Boston. While most of the pictures were simply casual snapshots from his trip, the first photo immediately caught fans’ attention with its savage message. Taken inside a record store, the photo shows RM dressed casually while holding a ceramic mug emblazoned with the words: “A Giant Cup Of Shut The F*ck Up.” Although he did not directly mention the GRAMMYs or any individual, given the sensitive context surrounding the group recently, many fans could not help but draw their own connections.

Interestingly, RM has also recently become a major source of excitement online thanks to his lyric changes during BTS’s US concerts. At BTS’s concert at MetLife Stadium, RM changed the familiar line “Haters gon' hate, players gon' play” to: "Haters gonna hate and we players gonna play! Born in кσяєα. That's why they don't know 'bout us." The moment was quickly viewed by both кσяєαn and international media as BTS’s first direct response following the group’s decision not to participate in this year’s GRAMMYs.
At BTS’s final concert in Foxborough on August 6 (local time), RM once again switched up the lyrics in “MIC Drop,” changing them to: Haters gonna hate and we players gonna play! We don't say 'Hello,' we say 안녕하세요 (Annyeonghaseyo)." The moment the line rang out, Gillette Stadium erupted with deafening cheers from tens of thousands of ARMYs.
While the original lyrics carry a message about rising above criticism and prejudice, RM’s addition of “Born in кσяєα” and “We say Annyeonghaseyo” at this particular moment further highlights BTS’s кσяєαn roots and identity. The changes are seen as a consistent continuation of the stance the group has maintained since its statement late last month.
Meanwhile, although RM did not directly name any individual or organization, the latest photo of the mug has also been interpreted as a cool and unapologetic response to the GRAMMYs’ series of increasingly biting reactions. Following BTS’s boycott announcement, the organization faced criticism for a series of controversial responses — from what fans viewed as insincere explanations and attempts to distort the issue while turning the criticism back on BTS by CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and Recording Academy member Zeena Koda, to the seemingly inexplicable removal of BTS’s iconic “Dynamite” and “Butter” performance videos from the GRAMMYs’ official platforms.
Fans absolutely loved the way RM seemingly sent a “giant cup” straight to the awards ceremony, with many expressing their excitement: "This is such perfect timing actually", "He loves to do iconic sh1t", "To all the people who it may concern", "LMFAOOO THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE NAMJOON PHOTO", "Clock it Namjoon", "The Grammys tried to outsmart Namjoon, who has an IQ of 148???",...
