The fact that idols have social media accounts is nothing unusual, and BTS's verified accounts each boast tens of millions of followers. But that's only the tip of the iceberg. For years, fans have speculated that the BTS members quietly lurk in ARMY discussions through secret SNS accounts, with several incidents seemingly lending credibility to the theory.
Jungkook, RM, and V have long been jokingly suspected by ARMY of using private accounts to keep an eye on fan conversations on X. Jungkook once drew attention for searching his own name and directly responding to a false rumor, while RM has repeatedly referenced trending fan discussions shortly after they surfaced. V, meanwhile, has shared fan-edited videos from X and even showed Jimin a piece of fan art posted on the platform that ultimately inspired the final design of Jimin's famous moon-cycle tattoo.
Because of those long-running suspicions, fans became even more convinced when a recently resurfaced post appeared to have predicted BTS's latest album with uncanny accuracy!
Specifically, fans rediscovered a 2020 post from the X account @PurpleProject7 that read: "@BTS_twt will top all Billboard charts and get Grammy awards with Arirang one day. Mark my word." What made the post so astonishing was that it not only predicted BTS dominating Billboard and winning GRAMMYs, but also mentioned the exact album title "ARIRANG" six years before any public information about the project existed.
In reality, after its release in March, ARIRANG went on to achieve a remarkable list of milestones. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 641,000 album-equivalent units, including 532,000 pure album sales, marking the biggest sales week for any group since Billboard adopted the album-equivalent units мєтнodology. It also became BTS's seventh No. 1 album on the chart.
Even more impressively, ARIRANG remained at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks, becoming the first K-pop album in history to accomplish the feat. The last group album to spend at least three weeks atop the chart was Babel by Mumford & Sons, which logged five non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 between 2012 and 2013. Billboard also noted that ARIRANG was the first album to debut at No. 1 and remain there for its first three weeks since Taylor Swift's The Life of a Showgirl.
By early July, the album continued demonstrating impressive longevity, holding steady at No. 10 on the Billboard 200, while its title track "SWIM" ranked No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100, proving the album's enduring popularity months after its release.
Beyond its commercial success, BTS's fifth studio album also earned widespread critical acclaim. Major international music publications, including Complex, The Telegraph, Rolling Stone, NME, Salon, and Consequence, all named ARIRANG one of the Best Albums of 2026, praising the record as a new artistic milestone following the group's full-member reunion. Those reviews also strengthened industry expectations that ARIRANG represented BTS's strongest opportunity yet to finally win their first GRAMMY after years of nominations.
That was, however, before all seven members announced at the end of July that they would not submit their music for this year's GRAMMY Awards, saying they wanted their work to be recognized for its artistic merit rather than being separated by region or language. Their decision was widely believed to be a response to the Recording Academy's introduction of the new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, which many critics argued could limit equal competition for Asian artists in the prestigious General Field categories.
Looking back at the 2020 post, fans were stunned by how eerily accurate it turned out to be. Comments such as "BROOOOOO HOWW," "WAIT HOW!?!!," and "Who are you?" quickly flooded the replies. Some ARMY even jokingly came up with one theory: @PurpleProject7 might actually belong to... SUGA.
The reasoning wasn't entirely random. SUGA has long been nicknamed "Minstradamus" by fans for repeatedly making predictions about BTS's future achievements that later came true. He has also spoken numerous times about his goal of winning a GRAMMY and was one of the producers behind ARIRANG. Before long, countless fans began playfully demanding that the account owner "confess," leaving comments such as "We know who you are," "Huh??? You even know the album name! Confess already! You're Yoongi, aren't you?", accompanied by an endless stream of SUGA memes.
