The seven members — RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — have been active together since the early 2010s, when they were teenagers in their early twenties. Thirteen years have pαѕѕed, and the seven young men are now global superstars in their thirties — mature in their careers, success, and influence.
“BTS has sold over 500 million units and racked up over 104 billion streams worldwide, became the first кσяєαn band to be nominated for a Grammy, to top the Billboard 200 album chart and the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, to speak at the United Nations, became a global cultural force, the best-selling Asian act ever, and one of the best-selling groups—of any genre, any nation, any time—period” as described by GQ in its latest exclusive interview.
When it comes to BTS at this point in their career, it is clear that they are already a veteran group — exemplary seniors whom many generations of younger idols admire and look up to. Therefore, the topic of their “legacy” is soмєтнing that could reasonably be discussed. So in an interview with GQ, BTS received the question that: “What does BTS want their legacy to be? How do they want to be remembered?”. Then, the members’ reaction made both GQ and fans laugh.
Instead of talking about the achievements they have already accomplished, SUGA responded modestly: “Isn’t it a bit early to talk about legacy? We still have a lot to do.” Jimin then continued the idea that BTS is still very young, saying: “We’re still young! With a bright future ahead!” — even though in reality they are K-pop superstars approaching their 13th debut anniversary and are already in their thirties, while some idols from the newest generations are only 14 or 15 years old.

The members even added, “Now our chapter two is starting” and “Now we’re making a comeback after a long time.” The way they look toward the future shows that their energy and pαѕѕion for their craft are no different from when they first debuted. These statements are also widely interpreted as a sign that BTS still has many big plans ahead.
In fact, this is not the first time BTS members have spoken about their desire to continue performing for a long time. Over the years, they have repeatedly shared their wish to keep performing even into old age, and they have even imagined what the group might look like at that stage.
During a performance while chatting with fans, SUGA sincerely shared: "I envision myself performing until my 60s". In response to fans chanting, "Please grace the stage till your final moments," he jokingly said: "Let me rest a little bit before I ∂ιє though. I don't think I'll be able to even hold a mic at that age!"
RM also once shared an interesting vision in an interview, saying: “This is us talking because we want to do this for a long time. We pαѕѕed the so-called seven-year limits… BTS stands for Bangtan Boys, and we envision ourselves becoming Bangtan Papas or even Bangtan Grandpas. Maybe 20 or 30 years later. That’s what we want. BTP let’s go!"

In an interview after completing his military service, j-hope also revealed that the members had seriously discussed forming a band together when they reach their sixties. According to MK Sports, he explained that conversations such as "How long can we keep dancing?" and "Let's do a band in our 60s" naturally came up as the members began thinking seriously about how they could continue making music as they grow older.
Interestingly, they even thought about which instruments each member would play in that band. j-hope revealed: “Bαѕѕ would be RM, guitar would be Yoongi, and keyboard would be Jungkook,” j-hope gave as an example. As for himself, he said he would play the drums.

Therefore, when BTS says it is still too early to talk about their “legacy,” perhaps they are not just being modest. For the group, the journey is still continuing — and their story may last for many more years to come. It is still far too early to talk about BTS’s retirement, and the people happiest to hear that are, of course, ARMYs. They commented:
- Like despite being in the business for over 13 years, it's clear that they envision a long-standing career in being dedicated to their crafts. BTS are true artists
- We're locked in for the rest of our lives frfr. They're so hot for this
- This men don't plan to retire any soon. Yes please we still have a long way
- HE IS SERIOUS ABOUT STAYING WITH BTS UNTIL THEIR 60's
- And that’s on everybody who has had the audacity to act like this is a farewell tour of some sort. These men are gonna be here 20 years from now touring to capacity crowds.
- Dis band ain't disbanding anytime soon. Tell them Yoongi. And that's humility and ambition as well.
- If you think they've reached their peak then you're wrong,bc this is just the start of their journey to reach their peak. And yoongi has talked about it for so long about how they have talked about making music together for a long time.
- Just means they have many things to achieve and this is just a start
