A Tampa Restaurant Selling Private CCTV Footage Of BTS Faces Mass 1-star Reviews From ARMYs

For a long time, the issue of idols’ privacy has been a “hot topic” causing frustration in the entertainment industry. While it is understood that idols are public figures and cannot live completely private lives, even the most basic personal boundaries have been violated. Even private schedules—personal activities outside of work—are constantly watched by a segment of overzealous fans or paparazzi.

One of the most ѕнσ¢кing incidents occurred during BTS members RM, Jin, V, and Jungkook’s trip to נαραи following their concert at Tokyo Dome. The group was closely followed by Shukan Bunshun, a tabloid known for its paparazzi-style “exposés.” They were trailed until 1 a.m., and the publication later released 40–50 photos accompanied by malicious articles, such as accusing RM of smoking in a restricted area or framing Jin’s outing as a suspicious “secret visit.”

This incident has sparked outrage among fans these days. However, being followed or having one’s personal life exposed by paparazzi is at least not uncommon—especially compared to a situation where even a restaurant becomes a threat to an idol’s privacy. Sadly, BTS became the victim of such a case during their first visit to Tampa, Florida!

Specifically, the ARMY community was recently shaken upon discovering that a restaurant in Tampa had allegedly sold CCTV footage capturing BTS while they were dining there. Notably, the footage was later used in a local news report and even revealed the members’ payment receipt, leaving many ѕнσ¢кed.

When the footage aired, fans quickly recognized that the meal took place during the group’s first days in Tampa. The members had previously shared a photo of themselves happily sitting together at a seaside restaurant during sunset. Yet just days later, their private dining experience was exploited for profit by that very establishment.

From a service perspective, BTS visited the restaurant as customers and were entitled to privacy and safety within that space. Extracting surveillance camera (CCTV) data—intended solely for security purposes—and selling it to a third party is a betrayal of customer trust and a violation of basic business ethics.

More seriously, the exposure of the payment receipt crossed a red line regarding financial data protection. This act not only invaded their personal lifestyle but also demonstrated a lack of professionalism in data management, leaving any future customer uneasy about visiting the establishment.

Considering BTS’s status as global superstars—who brought an estimated economic impact of 800 to 900 million from three nights of concerts to Tampa, and who were warmly welcomed by locals and even authorities, including road closures in their honor—the city’s goodwill has now been tarnished by the actions of just one restaurant and a local media outlet that publicly disclosed private images without consent. In other words, this was an outright act of exploitation that leaves a lasting stain.

The incident was swiftly condemned by both global and local fans. Within a short time, a wave of outrage spread across social media platforms. Fans not only expressed their disappointment through critical comments but also left a flood of one-star reviews on Google as a form of boycott. In addition, they reported both the restaurant and the media outlet responsible for publishing BTS’s private information to local authorities in hopes of appropriate action.

As of now, neither the restaurant nor local authorities have issued an official response to the allegations. Meanwhile, fans’ anger has reached its peak, expressing:

- The restaurant so f*cking weird for this.. why can’t anybody ever just be normal towards bts… nobody even asked for this footage bruh…

- Broo wtf seriously I hope @HYBEOFFICIALtwt @HYBEINSIGHTtwt gets on whatever news this is and file a l@w suit

- Why would they post and even sell soмєтнing from a cctv! Can’t they eat like a normal person that they are!?

- "CCTV? Sigh... Please protect their privacy. The members even shared photos with us themselves; was it really necessary to post this too?"

- ARMY i would NOT visit this restaurant bc they SOLD their cctv footage of the tannies in their private time off to local news- maybe one of the most disgusting things ive ever seen a business do, no better than TMZ. leave a review on google and a comment

- Beside sharing the different angles of CCTVs that restaurant even shared their orders. That goes beyond invasion on their privacy!!!

- WTF?? They wouldn’t do that to any other customer. For the business to agree to that is absolutely insane.

- I find people like that absolutely repulsive; why do they have to put others on display? Those people just want to have a laugh. Honestly, they’ve gone too far; just leave them alone. Let's report them.

- it was already a little weird that they let people wait in line just to have photoshoots at their table and now this..... so fcking greedy and opportunistic

- INVASION OF PRIVACY is a total LACK OF RESPECT for customers Selling the cctv footage+bill (what they eat&paid) is not only disgusting, but an outrageous lack of ethics&morals ARMY, Let’s show our disgust, but NE POLITE to be believed also “like” other comments to highlight them
