The Reactions Of BTS Members As They Know RM Curates An Art Exhibition At The San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art

The global media and fans were completely stunned by the news that RM will host a special exhibition with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in October 2026. While RM’s deep knowledge and extensive collection of contemporary art have already been widely recognized, this collaboration—proposed for the first time by SFMOMA—marks an official acknowledgment of his influence that extends far beyond music and outside the boundaries of being a K-pop idol.

Speaking about the concept of the exhibition, RM shared: “We live in an age defined by boundaries. This exhibition at SFMOMA reflects those boundaries: between East and West, кσяєα and αмєяι¢α, the modern and the contemporary, the personal and the universal.”

Meanwhile, introducing this major event on his Instagram account, the BTS leader sincerely expressed: “Since I began visiting museums in 2018, I’ve been learning and collecting step by step, and it feels both humbling and meaningful to now prepare this exhibition.”

He added with gratitude: “If you have some time next October (2026), I would be honored if you could visit with an open heart. I will do my best to create an experience that feels enjoyable, refreshing, and worth your time. Thank you,” touching the hearts of fans.

At the same time, BTS members warmly responded to their leader’s new role as a curator of his own exhibition. j-hope, V, and Jungkook were quick to leave comments right after RM posted the event poster.

j-hope added fire and clapping emojis as a show of applause while Jungkook left a simple but endearing “Oh wow”, reflecting his admiration for his “idol.” V then responded with a smiling face and heart-eyes emoji, showing his great excitement for the exhibition.

Fans believe that even the other BTS members, though not publicly commenting online, will likely send him messages or congratulate him directly for such a meaningful personal project. Many also hope to see the members attending the exhibition in person alongside RM when the event opens.

These reactions reinforced the strong bond between the members, proving that whether in group activities or individual pursuits, they continue to support, encourage, and celebrate one another. Fans felt happier than ever to witness these heartwarming moments now that BTS is back.

Meanwhile, The “RM X SFMOMA” exhibition will run from October 2026 to February 2027, featuring around 200 works, including pieces from RM’s private collection as well as works from the museum’s holdings.

RM’s collection will showcase works by renowned кσяєαn contemporary artists such as Yun Hyong-keun, Park Seo-bo, Kwon Ok-yeon, Kim Yoon-shin, Do Sang-bong, and Chang Ucchin. In addition, works by world-famous artists like Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Paul Klee will also be on display. Some pieces will even be presented to the public for the very first time.

Janet Bishop, Chief Curator at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, remarked: “Visitors will have an unprecedented opportunity to explore RM's beautiful and contemplative collection of paintings and sculpture in dialogue with works from SFMOMA's holdings, inviting us to make new discoveries and reflect on our own relationships with art.”

In response to this announcement, fans around the globe expressed their pride and anticipation across social media. One fan wrote: “The announcement is so early, which makes it even more exciting! I can’t wait for RM’s exhibition. A collaboration with SFMOMA featuring 200 works—this is going to be legendary.”

Other fans commented: “He truly loves art,” “Our art enthusiast Namjoon makes me so proud,” “One of the most incredible things I’ve ever read,” “Seeing RM’s dream become reality makes me so happy.”

One fan in particular emphasized: “What’s impressive is how BTS use their mαѕѕive influence for soмєтнing truly positive, meaningful, and useful. I’m so proud of them. I’ve chosen the right people to love,” highlighting BTS’s significant social impact.
