At BTS’s first concert in LA yesterday, fans must have gone wild when RM revealed his fifth tattoo: the words “I’m human.” With this tattoo, RM has officially joined BTS’s “more than one tattoo” club, led by Jungkook and Jimin. Interestingly, the club also includes a member ARMYs might least expect: j-hope, who has never even had his ears pierced.

j-hope actually joined this club even earlier than RM. About a year ago, through a few moments shared on social media, j-hope revealed his matching “I’m your hope / You’re my hope” tattoos above his knees on both legs. These two tattoos are essentially the guiding principles of his career and life. At BTS’s second-day soundcheck in Los Angeles, the idol appeared in shorts, unintentionally revealing a new tattoo on the back of his thigh. Sharp-eyed ARMYs immediately recognized the familiar image. It was the image of the BTS members posing to form the word “ARMY” during the performance/MV for “Butter,” right as they sang the line, “Got ARMY right behind us when we say so.”

The unique placement and design have turned the seemingly simple word “ARMY” into a tattoo with an incredibly special meaning in its own way. More than just a statement of the deep and unbreakable bond between j-hope, BTS, and ARMY, the tattoo also represents his profound appreciation and recognition of the fans’ unconditional support throughout his career.
