SUGA Inspires, ARMYs Lend A Hand: Autism Society Japan Expresses Their Gratitude For Huge Donation From Fans

In the entertainment world, an idol’s influence is not limited to music or stage performances. Nowadays, the way an artist acts, shares values, or participates in social activities can have a powerful impact on their fan community.

Fans, in turn, often mirror their idols: when an idol does good, they also seek ways to contribute. Few examples are as vivid as the relationship between BTS and ARMYs – where love for music combined with social responsibility has created positive effects that have spread on a global scale.

BTS and their fan community have repeatedly demonstrated the power of solidarity, not only changing social awareness about issues but also supporting the lives of many vulnerable people. Over the years, BTS and ARMYs have attracted attention through numerous charitable donations, both large and small.

Most notably, when BTS donated 1 million USD to the Black Lives Matter movement in June 2020, ARMYs immediately “joined forces,” raising an additional 1 million USD within just 25 hours through the #MatchAMillion campaign.

Similarly, recently, the נαραи Autism Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to SUGA and the fans for donations to the center, which exceeded 1.5 million yen.

In their post, the Association did not hide their appreciation: "Warm thoughts from all fans have become warm donations. In response to the news that SUGA, a member of the кσяєαn idol group BTS, donated a large sum of money to establish a facility related to autism spectrum care, donation offers flooded our αѕѕociation from fans. The post we made in response received many positive comments, such as "It's nice to see warm feelings spreading" and "We want to work together." The related donations totaled over 1.5 million yen".

Notably, these donations not only directly help children and support the center’s operational costs, but also provide an opportunity to raise public awareness about autism. A portion of the funds was also used for an exhibition at the Osaka/Kansai Expo, giving more people the chance to understand autism spectrum disorder and the Association’s initiatives.

Earlier, in June 2025, SUGA made headlines by donating 5 billion won (~3.6 million USD) to establish the Min Yoongi Treatment Center. This was the largest donation from an artist to the Yonsei/Severance Medical System. The center was created to help children with mental health challenges, particularly those on the autism spectrum.

This action not only drew media attention but also sparked a wide wave of contributions from ARMYs both domestically and internationally. The 1.5 million yen donation from ARMYs to the נαραи Autism Association is one tangible example!

The combination of the idol and fans created a “circle of positive impact”, where acts of kindness continue to multiply. As this news spread widely across social media, praises and pride poured in:
