Over the years, BTS members have always appeared with a positive and energetic spirit. They become the joy of many fans and the ones who spread messages of love to many others.
But on the contrary, there are times when they themselves do not have their own joy. During RM's most recent broadcast on Weverse Live, he admitted for the first time the fact that there was a time in the past when he wanted to end his life for objectively negative reasons.
RM's confession surprised fans and they realized they needed to express their love for him more:
Unlike the Western entertainment industry, where many stars openly talk about their mental illness and receive support from fans, the topic of "suic1de" or "depressi0n" is still a topic that кσяєαn artists are "afraid" to speak in public. Not only idols, but according to кσяєα Herald, mental 1llness is still a taboo topic that кσяєαns rarely seem to want to talk about.
A 2017 government statistic showed that 1 in 4 кσяєαns have suffered from a mental health dis0rder at least once in their lives, but the proportion of people pursuing professional treatment is only 1 in 10. It's sad that in a country with a high suic1de rate like South кσяєα, this issue is not openly communicated.
But unlike other Kpop artists, BTS is more comfortable mentioning this as people who have experienced it so that others can understand what they need to do to avoid falling into the same situation. SUGA once mentioned to fans that he went to a psychiatrist during his most difficult time and thanks to that, he was able to return to a normal life.
Meanwhile, most recently, RM shared for the first time about his past thoughts of ending his life. Specifically, during the live broadcast on Weverse Live on the evening of September 14, 2 days after his birthday, RM talked intimately with his fans about many topics, including the story This is sad.
RM started mentioning that he once wanted to commit suic1de when facing a lot of hate and criticism from others. But the love of his fans saved his life and we, fortunately, still have RM's presence at the present time.
He said with emotion: "In the past, I used to think I want to d̾i̾e ̾ a lot because of all the hate and things like that. But in the end, love wins over everything."
Becoming a pop star seems to be a dream job for many people, but top Kpop idols like RM also struggle with many difficulties, especially mental damage. It sounds absurd because the more famous they are, the more people love and support them, but reality shows that the more famous a Kpop idol is, the more gossip, criticism, and even cyber bully1ing they have must endure.
During RM's 10-year career, he dedicated healing songs to the public, spread messages of self-love, and contributed heavily to Love Myself (self-love) campaign or #ENDv̾i̾o̾l̾e̾n̾c̾e ̾ (end v̾i̾o̾l̾e̾n̾c̾e ̾) campaign in partnership with UNICEF. But he himself was unjustly criticized, slandered and @ttacked by toxic individuals. In addition, prejudice and pressure from the public are a poison that gnaws at his soul to the edge of the abyss.
Until now, that has not ended, but the protection and support of ARMYs around the world has made RM's fear a lot less. He feels the anticipation, hope and love from his many fans, other members and his family and friends.
Just like RM said, love helped him heal his miserable soul!
Before RM's sharing, many fans burst into tears because they did not know how much he had suffered over the years. To prevent similar negative thoughts from happening to RM or other members, fans promised themselves that they would show their love for the group a lot:
- F*ck everyone that hates on this beautiful soul honestly
- Imagine Namjoon think like this and Yoongi with the great depression with so many things. I can't
- my poor jooniebug this is so h̾e̾a̾r̾t̾b̾r̾e̾a̾k̾i̾n̾g :( i’m glad he’s doing better but i hate that he had to feel that at all
- I understand, as I do sometimes... I'm so glad he's still here and that he didn't let the thoughts win
- Oh love, I’m so sorry :( I love you to the moon and back, I wish you had never gone trough that. I wish you only happiness for the rest of your life
- I LOVE YOU SM JOONIE, always here for you
- My joonie you're so strong and one thing for sure I'll be here for you always. Thank you for being you & love you forever
- The unimaginable pressure they’ve been under since their teens would have ruined a lot of other people. Thank everything that’s holy that they had each other.
- I wish he never went through that, but I'm glad he didn't give up. Joon, your existence kept me alive, so thank you for living too. We love you.
- For anyone who might need this...We’re not defined by the people who make us feel like we don’t deserve to be loved or they hate us for no reason. We’re already LOVE. You are love & light and raw human beauty! That’s the magic of being YOU! And love will always come back to YOU!
- You came so far namjoon we all cherish your existence so much!!
- omg :( he's been through so much. i hope he can feel he's surrounded by love, always
- I love that he’s being so real and I know that it’s hard to listen to him say these things but it’s important that we create that safe space for him to say what he feels without worry of making us feel bad.
- All in all, he was in such a good hyped mood. He said not to read too much into his grey shirt/short hair that might make him come across as “down” Our man Joon is doing well! Loves working out and working…and didn’t drop any “spoilers” LOL
- There are times his thoughts can be so complex and it affects me so much. Then there are times when he says the most simple things ....with every bit of sincerity....and I get goosebumps at it.
- noooo. this really breaks my heart. i hope he would never think about it again:( and i hope he always knows that we love him so much:((
- Joonie and BTS, I love you so so much and very sincerely. You're like that best friend who saved me from far away. We'll keep loving you till the end of time. Thank you for being there
