After many years of explosive global activity, BTS is now standing at yet another major milestone in their career as they prepare to release a new album titled ARIRANG. Ever since the members shared last year that they would begin producing new music after completing their mandatory military service, international au∂ιєnces have been counting down the days. As March begins, that long-awaited excitement has reached an unprecedented peak.
While Big Hit Music described ARIRANG as symbolizing BTS’s return to their roots and the group's commitment to sharing Korean culture with everyone around the globe, the members themselves have repeatedly expressed a deep personal attachment to the project. They have shared that they can hardly wait to let fans hear the new melo∂ιєs they have carefully crafted. Notably, Jin, V, and Jungkook once revealed that the three of them spent an entire hour at Jungkook’s home listening to all the new tracks together and talking extensively about their feelings.

Beyond these remarks, fans have had almost no concrete information regarding the album’s concept or musical genre. However, the closer the release date approaches, the more rumors and hints about BTS’s upcoming album have spread across social media, sparking lively discussions among fans.
On March 1, fans noticed that two leading distributors, Accord and JB Hi-Fi — both responsible for distributing the upcoming album ARIRANG — had categorized the album under “Rock/Pop” in their online listings. Screenshots quickly circulated on social media, triggering a wave of intense excitement. Although there has been no official confirmation from the management company, this detail alone has been enough to ignite countless theories.

Many ARMYs believe that if ARIRANG truly carries a Rock/Pop sound, it could provide an opportunity for BTS to showcase more powerful vocals, stronger instrumental arrangements, and even striking guitar riffs — a different side compared to their recent releases. Quite a few fans are anticipating how the leading K-pop superstars might blend traditional musical elements with rock influences. Some have even speculated that the album could deliver a surprising upgraded version of their нιт “Idol.”
Netizens have left numerous comments in response to this news, including: "That’s why they collaborated with Ryan Tedder!!!", "Omg ARIRANG is rock/pop genre???", "I’ve always wanted bts to do rockkkkj OMGGGGG", "Jin vocals are gonna go insane on this", "I knew it when I saw taylor hanson worked on it!", "...oh..If we’re getting electric guitars and high energy for ARIRANG, I am actually not going to survive this comeback. RIP to my replay button!! ", "Yall remember that version of Fake Love? It's going to be amazing", "I'm waiting for the other Idol",...
In addition to the genre-related revelation, the public has also been buzzing over the list of artists rumored to be collaborating with BTS on ARIRANG. According to leaked information, four female artists — Megan Thee Stallion, Halsey, Laufey, and Sabrina Carpenter — have reportedly been involved in the music production process with BTS since November last year.

The speculation does not end there. On February 21, fans were surprised to see Benny Blanco and Charlie Puth each post posters featuring their names on the signature red tape background via Instagram Stories. While Benny shared it alongside BTS and Snoop Dogg’s collaboration track “Bad Decisions,” Charlie posted Kiss of Life’s song “SADE.” Online “detectives” have also pointed to additional clues, such as j-hope visiting Benny’s house around March 2025, and V and j-hope previously sharing photos of BTS hanging out with Charlie Puth in Los Angeles during a songwriting camp in August 2025.

Beyond those two names, Taylor Hanson, Becky G, Tablo, Tomorrow X Together, and CORTIS are also said to have participated in the campaign and are therefore suspected as potential collaborators. Another source additionally listed Swae Lee and NIKI as part of the production team, despite the fact that they have not made any moves on Instagram.
For now, everything remains speculation. Nevertheless, these accumulating clues have only further cemented ARIRANG as one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year. Meanwhile, ARMYs are undoubtedly ready for BTS’s bold new musical journey ahead.
