Jungkook and SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu are among the most famous close friends in the K-pop idol scene. They have known each other since their trainee days, when they attended joint training sessions and events between BigHit and Pledis.
In particular, both are part of the “97-line” friend group — a gathering of idols born in 1997, often praised by fans as a “visual gods” squad, including ASTRO’s Eunwoo, GOT7’s Yugyeom, NCT’s Jaehyun, and some less frequent members like GOT7’s Bambam, SEVENTEEN’s DK and The8, and others.
Although both are top K-pop idols with busy schedules, they still make time to hang out, eat together, or go on outings. They also don’t hesitate to join each other’s TikTok dance challenges whenever new music is released as a way to show support.
Naturally, every time fans witness their interactions, they become excited and delighted. Recently, social media went wild again when the two hottest ’97 idols appeared together in an υиєχρє¢тє∂ way in an Instagram live broadcast.
At first, it was a livestream of Mingyu with his fans, and Jungkook seemed to have received a notification about it. The Golden Maknae of BTS curiously joined the live broadcast, left a greeting in the comments, and immediately caught Mingyu’s attention.
Mingyu seemed very excited when his close friend joined in, saying: “Wow Jungkook is here. Hi Jungkook. How did he know & come in (to the live)? Jungkook-ah, I started the North America tour.” Jungkook replied with a simple yet warm compliment: “You’re working hard.”
However, Mingyu also looked a bit flustered, since it was his first time doing a live broadcast while his best friend was watching. What time is it in Korea now that you’re already awake?” to which Jungkook replied, “14:59.” Mingyu then said, “I should do lives with Jungkook later,” and Jungkook responded, “If we have time,” when reading a fan’s comment: “Will you film a challenge with Jungkook for this new song?”
Since it was Mingyu’s live broadcast with CARATs, Jungkook didn’t stay too long. He appeared for a short while before leaving a message in the comments: “Mingyu, do your live well. I’m gonna get going. I’m ready whenever. Sorry CARATs.. good(bye)…” and didn’t forget to add an adorable line: “Love ya dude.”
Meanwhile, Mingyu also left a sweet message for his best friend: “Ok Jungkook-ah, I’ll do the live well. Rest up and take care of yourself. It’s fun. Let’s do (a live) together sometime later. Come by when you have time.”
Though the moment only lasted a few minutes, it completely sent the live chat into chaos, flooding with exclamations, shocked reactions, and countless comments about the two idols.
Previously, Mingyu had once made a surprise appearance in Jungkook’s home live, but the two had never actually appeared together in a live broadcast, nor commented this actively on each other’s livestreams. That’s why Jungkook’s sudden drop-in this time left fans a bit stunned at first — but quickly overwhelmed with excitement.
