Jungkook Surprises Fans With An Unexpected Appearance At The Han River

Since BTS completed their military service, fans have been able to see the members more often, both in real life and on social media. While fashion week events have continuously treated ARMYs to the members’ slay-worthy appearances, the youngest members’ livestreams have given fans a sense of warmth and closeness.

On the morning of the 28th, Jungkook brightened fans’ Sunday by appearing handsome on Weverse Live and cooking breakfast with truffle mushroom rigatoni pasta and scrambled egg bread. This prompted many fans to jokingly say that he reminded them of a boyfriend—or even a husband—making breakfast.

Not only did he please fans with his visuals, but Jungkook also actively interacted with viewers throughout the livestream by sharing everyday stories. From chatting about food to revealing small changes such as removing his lip piercing after a month because it felt uncomfortable, and even talking about his latest “challenge” with V, Jungkook kept the atmosphere light and fun.

In one part of the broadcast, Jungkook suddenly mentioned his plans for the evening: “Anyway, today I’m going running. For those who wanna work out, let’s meet at the Han River.” He then added with a laugh: “No, I’m not going to tell you where I’ll be. I’m sure you’ll show up,” leaving fans ready to hunt down the Golden Maknae.

What came as an even bigger surprise, however, was that around 4:30 p.m., Jungkook suddenly posted a photo on Instagram with the caption: “They are doing something here,” hinting that he had decided to head out earlier than he had mentioned to fans.

Fans quickly identified the photo’s location as Jamsugyo Bridge—a popular spot for runners. Spanning across the Han River and connecting the Seocho and Yongsan districts in Seoul, the 795-meter-long bridge is a double-deck structure, with Banpo Bridge built right above it. It can even be submerged during periods of heavy rainfall.

Coincidentally, the day also marked the start of the Jamsugyo Bridge Car-Free Stroll Festival. During this event, vehicle traffic is closed off, and the bridge is transformed into a pedestrian-friendly space for residents to relax and enjoy leisurely strolls. The festival takes place every Sunday until October 26.

Along with spaces for sports and recreation, the festival also features a variety of attractions such as food trucks and outdoor dining, flea markets, photo zones, street performances (busking), wireless DJ parties (“silent DJ party”), and cultural programs (including traditional music, dance, and performances). On the opening and closing days, larger activities are also planned, such as mask festivals, sunset yoga, and sports shows.

This may explain why Jungkook thought of visiting the bridge for a run and encouraging ARMYs to join in. But it seems he couldn’t wait until the evening and decided to “catch fans off guard” a little earlier instead. Luckily, he left a heads-up through his Instagram post, giving some quick-witted fans the chance to possibly bump into him.

Meanwhile, while many ARMYs were excited about Jungkook’s spontaneous idea, others expressed concern that an overwhelming crowd of disrespectful fans might disrupt his private enjoyment of the event space. His photo is already drawing a flood of comments from fans across online communities:
