Pretty sure that ARMYs have never felt BTS’s “return” more vividly than these past few days. Social media has been ringing nonstop with a flood of updates—new photos, announcements, and an endless stream of live broadcasts from several members.
On the 15th in particular, while V was hosting a live broadcast with fans on Instagram, Jungkook suddenly joined in—marking his return to Instagram after two years with a completely new account, one that didn’t even have a profile picture yet.
The internet nearly exploded when fans noticed a user named ‘mnijungkook’ pop up, and realized that he had made a new account, possibly gearing up for future activities on the platform. It felt like a dream come true—soмєтнing no one dared hope for since he deleted his original Instagram in 2023.
Back in February of that year, Jungkook made headlines when he boldly deleted his account with over 50 million followers. He explained the decision on Weverse: “I left Instagram. It wasn’t hacked. I deleted it because I shouldn’t be doing it,” and “I don’t think I’ll have anything to do on there in the future.” The announcement ever left fans worldwide heartbroken.
Now, about 2 years and 5 months later, the fact that Jungkook has created a new account sparked mαѕѕive excitement across the global fandom. As of the afternoon of July 15, his new account had already surpαѕѕed 1.5 million followers.
Meanwhile, fans were quick to focus on one particular detail—the mysterious username ‘mnijungkook’, which instantly stirred up speculation and debate all over social media. Thankfully, Jungkook didn’t leave ARMYs hanging for long.
During a Weverse Live broadcast not long after, when Jimin casually brought up the fact that the Golden Maknae had made a new Instagram account, Jungkook confirmed with a simple: “Oh, mine? Yeah, that’s right,” then proudly added: “My name is Jungkook— That's right!" The clip of him saying this—with his playful and adorable expression—went viral almost instantly.
Jungkook has always been known for his unpredictably clever ideas when it comes to naming social media accounts. When he first joined Instagram in 2021, he instantly made headlines with the username @abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz—a full alphabet мιѕѕιиg just two letters: “JK”, the initials of his name.
And that wasn’t the only time he got creative. On TikTok, fans once ℓσѕт their minds when he popped up on an account under the name @Ian. It sparked tons of discussion until fans learned that Ian was actually the stage name Jungkook once considered using when he debuted—named after famous αмєяι¢αn dancer Ian Eastwood.
Even his dog Bam has an Instagram account that shows off Jungkook’s playful side. Named @bowwow_bam, the handle is a mix of a barking sound (“bow wow”) and Bam’s name—a combo so cute it made fans laugh out loud.
Now, with @mnijungkook, Jungkook is once again showing off his signature wordplay: short, quirky, and unmistakably him. His return to Instagram quickly trended worldwide, with fans celebrating both the new account and what it symbolizes—his gradual return to social media after a long hiatus.
And of course, ARMYs had thoughts:
- Mni means ‘My Name Is’??? OMG that’s SO CUTE
- Jungkook never disappoints. Deletes a 50M account, comes back chill with the cutest name ever!
- 1.5M followers in under a day. That’s Jungkook effect for you!
- We ℓσѕт him once on Instagram, but this time, we’re guarding @mnijungkook like it’s treasure!
- HE'S SOOO BABY LIKE YESSS THAT'S BABYYYYY
- Such a baby star candy coded. He's triggering my cuteness rage
- JUNGKOOK'S OFFICIALLY BACK ON INSTAGRAM with a cute but actually his style name account
- I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it. He's still creative with his accounts' name
- Godddd welcome back bosss jkkk. His idea is always incredible
- Had been in the fandom long enough that I have seen him open his first alphabet guy account, him spamming stories, the having a crashout over making his feed aesthetic and the first taekook live, then him deleting his account and making an account for bam to him finally again
