With about 20 days left until BTS officially releases their new studio album “ARIRANG,” the project is already being described by international media as one of the most highly anticipated comebacks of the year. As the release date approaches, BigHit Music and several media partners have launched a large-scale promotional campaign to build excitement around the group’s return.
On the 4th, the company unveiled the official tracklist for the album, which quickly sparked widespread discussion across social media. The following day, Netflix joined the promotional effort by releasing a grand poster and trailer on the 5th, further raising expectations among fans for what many are calling a new era for the group.
The promotions did not stop there. On the 6th, GQ Magazine released a video lasting about 15 minutes, capturing a conversation in which the BTS members answered questions from fans online. In the video, the members openly shared various stories—ranging from their feelings about returning as a group after a long time, details about the production process of the new album, to some fun and personal memories.

Among the many topics discussed, one question involving Jungkook and RM quickly became a hot topic within the ARMY community. The question revolved around a “fact” that fans have pαѕѕed around for years: that Jungkook joined BigHit Music after watching RM perform.
When asked directly about this, Jungkook confirmed part of the story but also corrected a small misunderstanding. He said, “That's correct.” However, the singer clarified the detail by adding, “It wasn't a performance, but I joined after seeing RM.”
Jungkook’s answer immediately made the other BTS members burst into laughter. Not мιѕѕιиg the chance to tease the youngest member, RM jokingly added, “Apparently, he made up his mind after seeing my thighs.” Hearing that, Jungkook quickly exclaimed, “Oh, honey thighs.” Meanwhile, Jin joined in by confirming, “Right, Jungkook really liked RM's thighs.”
The moment quickly drove fans “crazy” with amusement, especially because Jungkook so bluntly pointed out the group leader’s attractive thighs as the reason he joined BigHit. In reality, however, it’s not just Jungkook—RM’s thighs have long been famous within the fandom and among netizens for being particularly muscular and strong.

Fans jokingly commented that even someone with a physique like Jungkook’s couldn’t escape the charm of those “honey thighs.” Many humorous reactions quickly spread online, such as: “He’s just like me,” “Kookie legit said, I am here for Namjoon’s thighs,” “BTS is so uniquely BTS, because what do you mean they're talking about Namjoon’s thighs in their very first interview,” “He said honey thighs and that's reasonable enough yupp,” and more.
At the same time, fans are already familiar with the story that after participating in Superstar K3, Jungkook received casting offers from seven different entertainment companies. However, he ultimately chose Big Hit, and the biggest reason behind that decision was none other than RM. Still, the qualities that drew Jungkook to RM went far beyond just the famous “honey thighs.”
On Mnet’s “New Yang Nam Show”, Jungkook openly said: “I came to Big Hit Entertainment because Rap Monster hyung was so cool.”

In addition, during an interview with Rolling Stone, Jungkook recalled that he had watched RM’s rap videos when he was younger and was immediately impressed. He shared: “I just simply thought RM was really cool… When I saw him rap, I just thought he was really, really αωєsome.” Jungkook even added: “I believe maybe it was fate that drew me to him.”
RM was not only the person who first impressed Jungkook but also became a long-term role model in his musical career. On the radio program Bae Cheol Soo’s Music Camp, Jungkook once stated firmly: “My star and role model was RM.”
For many ARMYs, the moment in GQ Magazine’s video was both entertaining and meaningful, as it reminded them of a familiar story: a young trainee once decided to bet his future on a small company simply because he admired and trusted an older artist. And as history has proven, that decision may very well have become one of the most consequential—and correct—choices in the history of K-pop!
