Toward the end of last year, in an Idol Chart poll titled "Which Star Would You Like to Go on a Valentine's Day Date With?", Jin ranked No. 1 by a wide margin, beating hundreds of other idols. As of 2026, he has also maintained the No. 1 spot in the Most Popular Male Idol category on the Idol Pick app for 34 consecutive weeks. The Best Poll once ranked Jin No.1 as the ideal man / ideal boyfriend type, while кσяєαboo selected him as one of six male idols who give off “college boyfriend material” energy.

In other words, Jin is undeniably loved by fans around the world and is the dream man of millions of women across the globe. Everyone seems to want to date him—from ordinary people to famous female celebrities. That's why the statement, “Jin has never received a dating confession”, sounds almost impossible to believe!

However, this is exactly what Jin revealed in an episode of Run BTS, where he took on the "waterfall" challenge alongside three other stars: Yeonjun, YouTuber Kwak Joon-bin (KwakTube), and MMA fιgнтer Kim Dong-hyun. The episode featured a series of "Would you rather...?" questions, and one of the liveliest discussion topics was choosing “be asked out in a work group chat or have someone perform a traditional mask dance while asking you out in the middle of the street in Hongdae?”

Kim Dong-hyun candidly shared that he preferred being confessed to in person, saying, “Isn’t it nice to be asked out?” Meanwhile, Jin revealed his more introverted side, admitting that he feels uncomfortable with overly public displays of affection. The conversation took an υиєχρє¢тє∂ turn when KwakTube jokingly said, “I’d prefer the group chat, but I’ve never been asked out before”. Right afterward, Jin made a confession that caught everyone off guard: “I’ve never been asked out either”.

Jin's remark immediately left everyone on set in disbelief. Yeonjun quickly protested, saying, "Stop lying!" while Kim Dong-hyun openly expressed his surprise, saying, “That’s surprising”. Despite the overwhelming skepticism, Jin calmly repeated himself: “I don’t know anyone, so I’ve never been asked out.”

Kwak Joon-bin then suggested that perhaps Jin had never been confessed to because "people are probably too intimidated," an explanation that many fans wholeheartedly agreed with. After all, who would feel confident enough to ask the "Worldwide Handsome" out on a date? Let alone dating him—most people would not even have the courage to strike up a conversation. It's safe to say that nine out of ten people would feel exactly that intimidated.

At the same time, ARMY couldn't help pointing out that Jin was technically "lying," since he receives dozens of marriage proposals from fans on social media every single day. In fact, the "Jin, marry me" trend once went viral on Twitter. Just this past June, Jin even posted a photo of a fan-made banner reading "Seok Jin Marry Me" that had been brought to his concert in Busan. Before that, comments and banners saying "Please date me" or "Please marry me" had appeared at least once during his solo livestreams or concerts.

On the other hand, many ARMYs also argued that while Jin claimed no one had ever confessed to him, the reality is that he has never really given anyone the chance. One notable example came during one of his livestreams when a fan commented, "Please marry me!" Jin bluntly—and rather harshly—responded, "Don't say such ridiculous things." Likewise, although he later shared the fan's confession banner on his social media account, he never gave her a direct response.

At this point, fans couldn’t help but laugh at Jin’s remarks—and at the fact that absolutely no one seems able to believe him:
