j-hope Shares A Stage Performance Technique He Learned From Jungkook And Still Uses Today

ARMYs all know that while RM is responsible for being the leader, j-hope is BTS’s dance leader — the person who can make any member, even the oldest member Jin, nervous whenever they make a mistake or forget choreography. He originally started out as a dancer back in middle school. When it comes to talent, dance experience, and stage performance technique, he is clearly considered number one.

On the other hand, looking at his solo projects and especially his world tour, j-hope’s outstanding dancing and performance sкιℓℓs have shined brilliantly. His precise body control, ability to execute every move powerfully yet gracefully and emotionally, and talent for turning each song into a vivid visual story captivate tens of thousands of au∂ιєnce members around the world every night.

Not only do the BTS members acknowledge and respect j-hope’s dance talent, but fans and many other idols have also long recognized him as one of the top idols in terms of dance and stage performance. However, the most admirable thing about j-hope is that he has always remained humble and passionate!

Even after reaching what many would consider an almost perfect level as a performer, he continues to work hard to improve himself, refine his dance techniques, and polish his stage presence year after year. He even openly shared during a livestream with fans that he once sought performance advice from BTS’s youngest member, Jungkook.

At the time, j-hope explained that he had been debating whether to use a handheld microphone or a headset microphone for performances, believing that a headset mic would allow him greater freedom while dancing. However, after seeing Jungkook — despite performing highly intense choreography — prefer using a handheld microphone, j-hope reconsidered and decided to follow his lead.

"What I thought about before the concert is that I wanted to use a headset mic. It was a place I wanted to show my dance. But Jungkook didn't use one, so if I suddenly used a headset, it'd be funny. It wasn't just that but there are issues with using a headset at a concert", he explained.

This revelation surprised fans because despite having far more experience and serving as BTS’s dance leader, j-hope never insisted that his own approach was completely correct. Instead, he stu∂ιєd Jungkook’s performance style, recognized its strengths, and admitted that it provided the best guidance for the stage. Through this detail, fans saw the deep respect and teamwork shared among the BTS members. Age and hierarchy do not matter to them — learning from one another always comes first.

On the other hand, while j-hope learned this technique from Jungkook, he himself was also the one who guided Jungkook in improving his stage performances during BTS’s early debut years. At that time, the group’s “golden maknae” was extremely obsessed with performing perfectly, often giving everything he had on stage and criticizing himself harshly whenever he felt he had not done well enough, even when fans and the other members saw nothing wrong.

j-hope advised him that being the “golden maknae” did not mean pushing himself to exhaustion. He explained that fans cared more about the energy and joy Jungkook brought to the stage rather than absolute perfection. He also reminded the younger member that learning how to manage energy and pace himself effectively was the true sign of professionalism. That advice has stayed with Jungkook until today, helping shape an even more perfect “golden maknae"!

Witnessing the BTS members continuously learn from one another and grow together every day has deeply touched fans’ hearts, becoming an inspiring example for everyone:

- Love the bond between the brothers! How they inspire each other

- Not the solos crawling out like actual roaches under this very telling tale of inspirational and supportive BROTHERHOOD.

- The fact that the seven boys are family to each other, take advice and notes from each other, support each other, and will never be jealous of each other's success is soмєтнing these disgusting solo stans in the comments will never understand, this is how healthy families are

- I love how jhope is taking notes from jungkook’s successful solo career

- Its nice to see hyung taking notes from their all rounder golden maknae

- I think the mention of JK is because JK is a singer dancer; whereas Hobi is a rapper dancer. Im sure he is learning from JK as he navigate this genre of singing and dancing

- The way BTS genuinely learn from each other no matter the age or position is so beautiful. That’s real brotherhood

- j-hope being humble enough to learn from Jungkook while Jungkook grew up learning from Hobi… this family dynamic is everything to me

- You can tell BTS’s bond was built on mutual respect, not ego. They constantly help each other grow and that’s why they’ve lasted this long
