HYBE & Netflix Come Under Fire For Allegedly Disrespecting 2 BTS Members By Blurring Their Faces In Promo Poster

With only 10 days left, BTS will officially release their comeback project ARIRANG and perform the special stage “BTS The Comeback Live” at Gwanghwamun Square. This is considered one of the most anticipated comebacks in K-pop history, marking the return of the K-pop superstars after a three-year hiatus. The live show will also mark the first time an artist has held a solo concert at Gwanghwamun Square—an iconic landmark that symbolizes South кσяєα.

Earlier this month, Netflix sent global social media into a frenzy after releasing the official trailer and poster promoting “BTS The Comeback Live.” The trailer impressed viewers with grand cinematic shots shifting between day and night, portraying BTS with the aura of the “kings of K-pop” against the backdrop of Gwanghwamun. Phrases such as “THE WORLD'S BIGGEST BAND IS BACK,” “WITNESS THE HOMECOMING,” and “Seven together, we can do anything. Keep swimming” further heightened the excitement surrounding the event.

Alongside the online promotional campaign, Big Hit Music recently announced the launch of a series of themed pop-up spaces across Seoul. At these locations, fans can explore exclusive merchandise, concept exhibitions inspired by the ARIRANG album, and various interactive experiences related to the upcoming comeback. Through these spaces, the atmosphere of BTS’s return is brought closer to the public, turning central areas of the city into lively gathering spots for ARMY.

However, amid the excitement, a detail in the recent promotional campaign υиєχρє¢тє∂ly sparked controversy. Specifically, several advertising videos and large-scale posters displayed on digital platforms and in public locations across Seoul have led fans to question how two members, Jungkook and j-hope, were portrayed in the poster.

In the promotional poster, the BTS members stand under powerful stage lights shining from behind. While the other members appear clearly within the same composition, the positions of Jungkook and j-hope are struck by such intense beams of light that their faces seem partially obscured by the glare. One image shared on X shows the promotional visual displayed outside a building, where the faces of Jungkook and j-hope appear to be hidden by the bright light.

The detail quickly caught the attention of the ARMY community and sparked widespread discussion online. Some fans suggested it might simply be a technical issue or an artistic lighting choice in the poster’s design. However, others expressed dissatisfaction, arguing that official promotional images for such a major project should ensure that all members are represented clearly and equally.

On social media, many critical comments began to appear, accusing the promotional campaign by HYBE and Netflix of lacking care and respect toward Jungkook and j-hope. ARMYs expressed their reactions:

- Seriously I just don’t get it. In preparing perhaps the biggest come back of the group can’t believe @BIGHIT_MUSIC is letting this poster where lights covering 2 mbrs faces completely, be part of their promotion. This is soooo unnecessary. dysfunctional and incompetent company!

- They are not serious about comeback 10 days left and see their hoardings and pictures in it. @bts_bigнιт show their faces properly they are doing so much hardwork and you cant even show their faces properly. We cant even see 2 members face and you are using them in hoardings.

- Congrats @BIGHIT_MUSIC @bts_bigнιт @HYBEOFFICIALtwt @NetflixKR for your sloppy work. How do you explain that you deliberately use a screenshot knowing two members' faces are not visible ?

- This is so disgusting how some platform using bts fame and power for thier publicity yet giving no respect for them. I feel bad for Hobi and jK. BTS deserve better. The fact that even the visuals are worst too. The camara angle too. Please show some gratitude Netflix.

- This is a rookie graphic design mistake??? Not ensuring all members are visible is basic incompetence. Worse, this came from big companies yet such an obvious error was missed. Do proper quality αѕѕurance.

- What professionalism… I'm sure they had plenty of photos, yet the one they chose is the one where the light hides Jungkook’s face... As a professional, that’s a very questionable choice

- RESPECT JUNGKOOK RESPECT JHOPE Two member’s faces are completely hidden by the lights in ARIRANG comeback posters. Immediately rectify this and change the image so all 7 members of BTS can be clearly seen. @netflix @NetflixKR @BIGHIT_MUSIC @bts_bigнιт @BTS_twt @HYBEOFFICIALtwt
