When talking about producers who have collaborated with BTS over the past 13 years, there are many names to mention. Even in their new album ARIRANG, BTS have worked with several renowned global producers such as Picard Brothers, Diplo, and Ryan Tedder. However, when ARMYs think about BTS’s producers, a few familiar and long-standing names immediately come to mind, including Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, EL CAPITXN, Hiss Noise, and Supreme Boi—in-house producers at BigHit who have been working with the group since their early days.
Among them, EL CAPITXN and SUGA are producers who frequently collaborate with each other, not only because they are the same age but also because they are close friends in real life. This talented young composer appeared on episode 27 of SUGA’s talk show “Suchwita” under his real name, Jang Yi Jeong.
Since 2019, EL CAPITXN has consistently been credited for contributions to songs produced by SUGA. Some notable works include: “We Don’t Talk Together” by Heize, “Interlude: Shadow” by SUGA, “eight” by IU featuring SUGA, the mixtape “D-2” by Agust D, “You” by ØMI, “My Universe (SUGA’s Remix)” by Coldplay x BTS, “Stay Alive” by Jungkook, and “That That” by PSY featuring SUGA.

During the period when SUGA was serving in the military, EL CAPITXN expressed his support for the idol several times—for example, by sharing a video on Instagram of himself performing “Dear My Friend” at one of his concerts. On another occasion, during a performance in Manila, he also gave a shout-out to Min Yoongi, saying: “Min Yoongi, I love you…” before telling the au∂ιєnce, “Please continue to support my friend Min Yoongi.”
The friendship between EL CAPITXN and SUGA is clearly close, but its beginning was not much different from other ordinary relationships. In his autobiography about his life and creative career, when recalling his friendship with SUGA, EL CAPITXN once admitted: "I turned down Yoongi’s offer to work together at HYBE and joined a company that promised to release my album. Maybe it was because, at the time, I still thought of Yoongi as just a business friend".
Their friendship took a turning point when the two went through difficult times together. EL continued: "But when he said, “I like hearing you sing. If you’re going to keep singing, fix your throat first. I’ll cover any costs,” that wasn’t BTS’s SUGA speaking—it was my friend, Min Yoongi. Yoongi and I met during difficult times and grew together. In truth, I was the one who received help—he was the one who helped me grow."
Most importantly, he emphasized: “That’s why, sometimes jokingly, I call Yoongi “dad.” I always say this: "Maybe it was my real dad who raised Jang Yi Jeong, but it was SUGA who raised *Producer* EL CAPITXN”.

To better understand what Jang meant, it is necessary to look back at the talented producer’s past before he became a producer at HYBE. He was once a member of the boy group HISTORY, promoting with the group until its disbandment. Then one day, Jang Yi Jeong suddenly found that he could no longer sing the way he used to, and even speaking became difficult. There were times when he wanted to greet the CEO but could not get the words out.
Although he visited many hospitals, the cause could not be identified because his voice itself seemed normal, so the problem was suspected to be related to the nerves. The process of trying to regain his voice during that period became one of the darkest times in his life.
Fortunately, fate later brought him and SUGA together to collaborate, and from that moment his life took a completely different direction—becoming a producer. SUGA decided to help Yi Jeong debut as a songwriter, and “DDAENG” by SUGA x EL CAPITXN was released in the spring of 2018, marking the beginning of a new dream for the male producer.

In a conversation on Suchwita, the producer once again recalled that SUGA had offered from the very beginning to pay all of his hospital expenses so that he could receive treatment for his throat, even though the two were not very close at the time. SUGA became the person who allowed him to express the “pain” of not being able to sing—soмєтнing he had not dared to tell even his own family.
Perhaps that is why, when writing about his close friend in his autobiography, EL CAPITXN said that he calls Yoongi “dad,” the person who “raised producer EL CAPITXN.”
After reading these lines from the producer, fans were deeply moved by the friendship between the two and expressed great respect for SUGA’s kindness:
- Min Yoongi, you are one of the kindest person to exist on earth! I feel so proud to be your fan, my baby
- It's so good to see what a wonderful person Yoongi is and how much he fιgнтs for his friendships.
