BTS Nominated at International Film Festival, Competing Against Madonna and Ariana Grande

Founded in 1993, EnergaCAMERIMAGE is an international film festival dedicated to the art of cinematography and the visual elements of filmmaking. Alongside feature films, the festival also has a dedicated category celebrating music videos with outstanding visual quality.

The 34th EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival is scheduled to take place from November 7 to 14, 2026, in Toruń, Poland. The nominated works will be showcased during the event, with the final results announced at the closing ceremony on November 14.

Notably, BTS has a work featured at this year’s festival, giving the group an opportunity to compete for a prestigious award!

According to the list announced by the organizers on October 19 (local time), BTS’s “SWIM,” the title track from their fifth studio album, *ARIRANG*, has been nominated for Best Music Video as one of 18 selected works. The category initially received around 300 submissions from across the world.

Having surpαѕѕed hundreds of entries from various countries, the South кσяєαn group’s music video is the only K-pop entry to make the final shortlist, competing alongside major names such as Madonna, Ariana Grande, and Harry Styles. Madonna is nominated with “Confessions II,” Ariana Grande with “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” and Harry Styles with “αмєяι¢αn Girls.

Unlike music awards that tend to focus on commercial success, the EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival places greater emphasis on cinematography, visual techniques, and the development of visual language in films and music videos. Being nominated therefore not only reinforces BTS’s influence in the global music industry but also brings the group closer to the world of visual arts.

This marks another noteworthy milestone in BTS’s journey. After spending years establishing their position through music and large-scale performances, the group continues to expand its presence through productions that place considerable emphasis on visuals and storytelling.

Released in March 2026 alongside the ARIRANG album, “SWIM” is the title track that marks a new chapter in BTS’s musical journey. The music video was directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Tanu Muino, who has worked on numerous international music productions, including Jungkook’s “Standing Next to You” music video.

The video also features actress Lili Reinhart. Its ocean and ship settings form the central visual backdrop, helping create a cinematic atmosphere. Rather than focusing solely on performances, the production tells its story through its setting, characters, and expressive imagery.

In the music video, the seven BTS members appear as figures who offer encouragement and strength to someone facing hardship. The themes of overcoming challenges, continuing to move forward, and holding on to hope are conveyed through the combination of music and visuals.

This approach gives “SWIM” greater visual depth and allows the work to be appreciated from a cinematographic perspective. For BTS, it is also an opportunity to demonstrate how pop music can intersect with visual art in different ways.

For now, “SWIM” remains at the nomination stage, with the final winner yet to be officially announced. Nevertheless, becoming the only K-pop entry among the 18 shortlisted works has already brought the music video additional attention from international au∂ιєnces and industry professionals.
