Among K-pop idols, Jungkook is considered a true ACE — the very definition of perfection. From his skills in singing, dancing, rapping, and photography, to his stage presence, visuals, physique, personality, and impressive list of achievements — he seems to have it all.
That’s why it’s hard to imagine that the now-confident performer once nearly got cut from the debut lineup because of his extreme shyness. This was something Bang PD himself revealed: "When Jungkook was a trainee, he couldn't sing every time he was told because he was too shy and just stood there squirming for 15 minutes", he said.
It turns out the “ACE of K-pop” wasn’t always flawless — and in fact, these kinds of weaknesses only make him feel more human. Even now, after years of growth and self-improvement, there are still a few areas that BTS members think Jungkook could work on.
Interestingly, the “weaknesses” they mentioned aren’t negative traits — they actually highlight Jungkook’s passionate youth and explain why he is the person and global star he is today.
First, SUGA and V revealed that one of Jungkook’s weaknesses is his hot temper. He tends to get irritated if he feels someone isn’t paying attention to what he’s saying or explaining. Similarly, he never backs down from a challenge and absolutely hates losing. If someone tells Jungkook he can’t do something, he immediately feels pressured and wants to prove himself right away.
This fiery and slightly combative personality started when he was just 14 or 15, living in a highly competitive trainee environment. After debut, he continued to push himself, running alongside BTS in their pursuit of success and global recognition.
Because he was still so young, his pride was big and his desire to prove himself even bigger. However, the members hope that the Golden Maknae can learn to prioritize his well-being over constantly taking on challenges, and keep calm in certain situations.
Next, Jin revealed another weakness: Jungkook’s inability to resist food. Despite his deep love for the gym, dieting has never been easy for him. Jin even admitted that he likes to feed Jungkook extra just to ruin his diet plans — something some ARMYs already know.
Meanwhile, j-hope said Jungkook’s biggest weakness is sleeping — because once he falls asleep, it’s nearly impossible to wake him up. During busy schedules, Jungkook has very little time to rest and recover, so he seizes every chance to sleep. Of course, this is something the other members also try to work around.
Beyond these “weaknesses” the members wish Jungkook would work on, they also shared softer, more vulnerable sides of his personality.
At first glance, Jungkook’s masculine appearance and physique might seem to dominate his entire personality. But that’s not the full picture of him! Jimin describes the youngest member as deeply emotional and sensitive. He shared that if Jungkook watches a sad movie, he gets emotional right away and cries on the spot. Sometimes, just seeing another member cry is enough to make him tear up.
RM, on the other hand, describes Jungkook as simple and sincere. No matter where he is or what situation he’s in, Jungkook easily adapts to his surroundings and feels at home without needing anything fancy. Despite being a world-famous idol, he still finds joy in eating instant noodles, going camping alone, or snacking like a little kid.
Through these insights, fans get to see the person behind the “perfect” idol image. Jungkook’s so-called weaknesses don’t make him any less charismatic — if anything, they highlight his determination and make him even more lovable. Meanwhile, the way BTS members talk about him shows how well they understand the pressures he faces and how much they care for their youngest member.
