As the release date of BTS’s album ARIRANG approaches, excitement within the global fan community continues to grow. As part of the promotional activities leading up to the group’s comeback, HYBE officially unveiled a line of official merchandise for ARMYs on March 10. Shortly after the announcement, the collection quickly drew significant attention from fans thanks to its distinctive designs and unique cultural inspiration.
The regular merchandise line includes 12 items centered around the theme of the album ARIRANG, drawing inspiration from traditional кσяєαn elements while presenting them in a modern and stylish way. According to the company, the products are designed to combine practicality with contemporary design trends, creating items that can be used in everyday life while also holding collectible value for K-pop fans as well as general consumers.

In addition, HYBE introduced a special collection titled “2026 BTS X MU:DS Collaboration Merch.” This collection takes design inspiration from the patterns of the Sacred Bell of Great King Seongdeok, a treasured cultural heritage artifact currently preserved at the Gyeongju National Museum. The collaboration project was created through a partnership between the National Museum Foundation of кσяєα and HYBE, with the goal of connecting BTS’s global influence with the traditional cultural values of кσяєα.

However, amid the excitement surrounding the new merchandise, one particular item υиєχρє¢тє∂ly became the center of discussion on social media. Among the products revealed was a metal object featuring the ARIRANG logo with a rather unusual design: the body appears as a rounded shape while one end is noticeably pointed. Its unusual appearance quickly sparked curiosity among fans about what the item was actually meant to be used for.
Across social media platforms, ARMYs quickly began proposing various theories. Some suggested that it might be a decorative keychain, while others guessed that the rounded part could be used as a chopstick rest. However, the discussion soon took a humorous turn when some fans began making more “dark-humored” speculations about its possible use.
One fan posted a half-serious, half-joking warning that read: “Hey ARMY, just in case and for safety reasons, no, don’t even attempt it, please no.” The post quickly went viral, attracting more than 400,000 views and prompting a flood of humorous responses from the fandom.

Following the same line of thinking, several other “bold” posts also gained traction and sparked reactions among ARMYs, creating quite a buzz within the fandom.

After a period of speculation and closer examination of the product, some fans eventually came up with a more reasonable explanation for the unusual design. According to them, the metal item is actually a wine stopper—a tool used to seal an opened bottle of wine.
Wine stoppers are commonly used to close the mouth of a wine bottle after it has been opened, helping prevent air from entering and preserving the wine’s flavor for a longer time. In this case, the pointed end of the item is designed to be inserted into the bottle’s opening, while the ARIRANG logo serves as a decorative handle.
But even after the item’s real function was clarified, many fans continued to caution others not to use the wine stopper for any other “sensitive” purposes, jokingly reminding fellow ARMYs: "ARMY, repeat after me: It doesn't have a flared base", "FOR YOUR ALCOHOL ITS A BOTTLE STOPPER PLEASE DONT GO TO ICU", "ARMY please… it’s a wine stopper. For WINE. Not for experiments", "Guys please… HYBE made merch, not medical emergencies", "BTS said love yourself, not injure yourself",...
Meanwhile, the official merchandise will be available starting at 1 PM on the 20th at the gift shop inside the permanent exhibition hall of the National Museum of кσяєα, as well as at BTS pop-up stores. On the Weverse platform, the products will go on sale at 2 PM on the same day.
Two notable pop-up locations include The Heritage, the main branch of the Shinsegae Department Store in Jung-gu, Seoul, and the HYBE building in Yongsan-gu. These spaces were created to celebrate the release of BTS’s fifth full-length album ARIRANG, while also giving fans around the world an opportunity to experience the beauty of кσяєαn culture firsthand through cultural products designed in line with the album’s theme.
