BTS members have always been admired for their good character and the way they treat everyone around them. There have been numerous stories and compliments from colleagues, staff, and even non-fans about BTS’s attitude and behavior, but the story from a “former BTS trainee” below gives an even more genuine insight into the personality of BTS—specifically SUGA—back in their trainee days.
Kim Jihoon, now the popular YouTuber Bitoon, was a trainee at BigHit Entertainment from around 2011 to 2012. Later, due to the company’s selection choices, he was removed from the group before BTS officially debuted.
Although he didn’t get to debut with the group, he spent time training and living in the dorm with the official BTS members. They shared many cute memories together, such as secretly bringing fried chicken into the dorm. In particular, when recalling his time living with BTS, he never hesitates to praise the members and share the most sincere perspective on the good character of the superstars from the very beginning.
In a viral video on 대범한TV, he recalled a touching memory between him and SUGA, reflecting the warm personality behind the usually cold image of the BTS rapper. Kim Jihoon shared: “One day, I was very sick at dawn. Yoongi (SUGA’s real name) came, took care of me, and brought me to the hospital. When I woke up the next day, he was still there. I asked, ‘Why are you still here and not resting at home?’ and SUGA replied, ‘I’m not leaving you here.’ He even paid the hospital bill for me.”
Kim Jihoon emphasized that SUGA’s words and actions that day left a deep mark in his memory—soмєтнing he will never forget. Remarkably, at that time, SUGA was not a wealthy trainee, yet he was willing to pay for the expensive hospital fees and take care of his colleague until Kim recovered.
This was not the first time Kim shared this story. In an older video on his YouTube channel, he had recounted the incident in detail. His dizziness and nausea started waking him up in the middle of the night. He staggered into the bathroom, vomiting repeatedly. Then SUGA knocked on the door to check on him.
Realizing that Jihoon was not okay, SUGA gave him his jacket and helped him into a taxi to the emergency hospital. There, Jihoon was admitted and underwent tests to evaluate his condition. The next morning, when Jihoon woke up, he saw SUGA had stayed by his side, and the rest of the story unfolded as he mentioned above.
Kim has referred to this story many times, showing that he is truly grateful and appreciative of SUGA’s kindness. Not only Kim, but his parents have also expressed their gratitude to SUGA for helping their son during a difficult time.
SUGA’s actions were immediately widely shared across social media. ARMYs around the world left many comments praising his kind heart:
- Yoongi always seems cold, but he’s truly one of the warmest people
